OUR STORY

Holly and Toby’s story began in Brisbane at the start of December 2012, just two days after Holly’s 19th birthday. Holly was over from New Zealand on a girls’ trip, and Toby was living in Brisbane at the time.

They met through friends of friends at festival pre-drinks before Stereosonic, and what started as a casual night out quickly turned into something unforgettable — it really was love at first sight!

Just two days later, Toby took Holly on their first date to Movie World. That early spark only grew stronger, and by that New Year they both found themselves at Rhythm &amp; Vines, completely unaware they were at the beginning of a lifelong journey together.

After the holidays, Toby invited Holly back to Australia before she started university, and from there, life naturally unfolded side by side. They then spent three years doing long distance, flying back and forth between countries — navigating airport delays, missed flights from nights out in Wellington, and the occasional missed flight on the other end when Holly wasn’t quite ready to leave. Through it all, their communication grew stronger and became the foundation of their relationship.

They eventually moved back to Tauranga and spent years exploring New Zealand together, from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island, with first one dog and then two, and more camping gear than they’ll ever admit to needing.

In 2022, they began working together and built Peard Excavation from a single digger into one of the Bay of Plenty’s leading earthmoving and civil companies, now proudly supported by a team of 15. They are known for their kind, humble, and welcoming culture — a true reflection of how they live their lives. Unsurprisingly, if you call Holly and ask how she is, the answer is usually “busy”… if she answers at all.

They got engaged in May 2024 in the very same place they are now getting married — in true Toby and Holly style, with a “we’ll get there eventually” approach to life. Toby had actually bought the engagement ring when Holly was pregnant with Wolf, where it quietly sat in a drawer for almost two years. Holly had always said she didn’t want to get engaged while pregnant because it “felt forced”… and life, as it turns out, had other plans.

Then came another surprise — they found out they were pregnant with Jordy when Wolf was just six months old, officially entering two-under-two chaos. With a growing business and a young family, there wasn’t exactly much time to come up for air.

Toby eventually proposed after Jordy was born, when Wolf was around two years old — finally putting the ring (and his patience) to good use.

Now, over a decade later, they’re finally taking the time to celebrate their love in paradise, surrounded by the people who mean the most to them. They are so grateful for everyone making the journey, and can’t wait to share this next chapter — as husband and wife — with the people they love most.

There are the beach houses across the bay which are amazing!There is also a new two bedroom house that has just been finished, I'm not sure exactly where it is located.Trish can help with any questions if we don't know the answer We would suggest getting the food package, the food on the island is 10/10 and caters to all dietary requriements x
